Day 1
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Transport to Outpost Lodge in Arusha town.
Day 2
Day trip at Mt. Meru villages, included African lunch
Pick up from hotel around 0900 and drive to Nkoaranga (40 min). The
walking starts through the local hospital and then proceeds through Poli
village. On the way you will see many small houses and banana-, maize-,
and coffee plantations. The path will now start to go walk up, and after
1 hour we you will reach Sura village, 1650 meter above sea. Here you
have a great view over the plains in Arusha district, the top of Mt.
Meru and on a good day you can also see Mt. Kilimanjaro. Now its time
for visiting a farmer that will show you how they live at the farm and
how he is producing coffee, banana and maize. After the guiding you will
be served traditional Tanzanian food at the farm. After the lunch you
proceed to a water source before you start to walk down to Nkoaranga (1
hour). At Nkoaranga centre you will visit the orphanage and the
Secondary school to see how the children are doing.
The money from this trip goes directly to the farmer, orphanage, school
and your guide.
Its possible to buy fresh coffee made of the farmers in Mt. Meru.
Day 3
This is first day of safari. You will be picked up from hotel around
0800. You drive to Lake Manyara (about 2
hours from Arusha). Inside Lake Manyara lunch will be served at a picnic
site with a beautiful view over the lake and Great Rift Valley. The
park has a dense forest so you will get very close to Black monkeys,
Blue monkeys and baboons. Also, you can get very close to elephants,
giraffes and hippos. If you are lucky you can see lions on the trees.
The park has a very nice lake with plenty of birds. After the game drive
you will return to the camp site where dinner will be served. The
campsite is close to the village called “Mto wa Mmbu" (Mosquito River) so you can take
a walk there in the evening.
Day 4
Wake up early and drive to Serengeti
National Park. This is a long drive so you will eat lunch on the way to
the campsite in Serengeti. You will pass Ngorongoro crater and can take
a look down from a good view point. On the way to the camp site inside
Serengeti you will do a game drive. Dinner will be served at the camp
site where you will overnight.
Day 5
If you are not
lazy, you will have a game drive in the early morning when the sun is
rising. At this time many animals will be more active than later on the
day when the sun is stronger. Breakfast will be served when you return
to the camp. After resting, you will continue with the game drive for
the rest of the day, only broken by lunch served at the camp. You can
see zebras, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, lions, leopards,
cheetahs, hippos and many different birds. Dinner will be served in the
evening at the camp where you sleep.
Day 6
Wake up early for breakfast. Game drive and lunch in Serengeti. After lunch you will
start driving to Ngorongoro crater. On the way you will do a game drive.
In the evening you will arrive at the Crater rim where you will eat
dinner and stay the night. It can be cold here compared to Serengeti. If
the weather is good you can have a fantastic view from the crater rim.
Day 7
Wake up early and
descend the crater. The whole day will be spent doing game drive and
lunch will be served by a water in the crater. If you are lucky you
can see the Big 5 inside the crater (buffalo, leopard, elephant, rhino
and lion). There is also a lake in the crater
with 1000 of flamingos. Usually you can see many antelopes, zebras, gnus
and hippos. In the afternoon you will start to drive back to town.
Day 8
Day trip to Tengeru Local market and walk around Lake Duluti.
Picked up from hotel around 0900 and drive to Tengeru local Market (25
min). People are coming from far away to sell their vegetables, fruits,
spices, textiles, kitchen equipment etc. At the market your guide will
show you the different parts and its possible to buy things at a very
low price, but you have to bargain. The food department has recently got
an upgrade and looks better than the other parts. After walking in the
crowd its time for lunch at the quite and beautiful Lake Duluti. The
lunch will be served down by the crater lake and you can watch the many
bird species while you eat. After the good meal you will take a walk
around the lake. There are many big, old trees and different flowers and
birds that the guide can tell you about. The walk takes about 1 hour.
It's also possible to take a canoe trip at the lake.
When finished the walk your car will bring you back to your hotel in
town.
Day 9
Departure to Zanzibar in the morning, leaving hotel at 0915. Arrival at
Zanzibar around 1230. From the airport it's a short drive to Stone Town
and your hotel. From her you will have a guided trip in the town
visiting these places: The earlier slave market, slave chambers, fruit-
and vegetable market, the earlier German Consulate, African house
(earlier British Club, the house of slave trader Tippu-Tip, The house of
wonders, The Forodhani park, The palace of the Sultan, The fort,
Livingstones’ house and of course Stone Towns funny, narrow streets,
several of them with exiting and fascinating architecture inspired by
African and Indian culture.
Day 10
Half day trip to Prison Island. A small boat will take you the short
trip from Stone Town to the island. At this island you can see the
protected giant land tortoise that are more than 100 years old. You can
also feed them. The island is nice for bathing and snorkeling. The
Island was bought by General Mathew who built a prison here in 1893, but
it was never used. It's nice to take a walk on the island. Back in Stone
Town you will go by car to the eastern coast of Zanzibar where you will
find white beautiful beaches waiting for you.
Day 11
There is no program on this day, so you will have good time for relaxing
at the beach.
Day 12
After breakfast you will start the classical spice tour. You can
taste and smell pepper, vanilla, nutmeg, clove, cardamom and many other
spices. You can see how they grow and looks before they are put in
plastic bags and sold in the shop. You will also see and taste different
tropical fruits, and see and learn about tropical trees, for example the
lip gloss tree and ylang-ylang.
The trip passes Kibweni palace and Kidichi to see the Persian baths
built by the first Sultan of Zanzibar in 1850. Thereafter you will visit
a local spice plantation where you also can taste different spices and
also buy them. In the end we visit the government spice plantation to
see more special plants.
Day 13
You are traveling to the fishing village called Fumba, 30 min outside
Stone Town where a local dhow are waiting you. Before boarding, there
will be a demonstration of safety vests and the program of the day will
be presented and you will get a drink. It is 85% change that you will
see Dolphins in Menai bay. You can swim with them if they are close to
the boat. If you want to snorkel there the boat will go to a nice place.
At this place you will stop and taste juice from green coconut together
with some Swahili snacks. Lunch will be taken at Kwale Island and
consisting of grilled fish, lobster, lentils, rice and fish pot, fruit
salad, fruit juices with more. Beer, sodas, Amarua liqueur and coffee.
When the sun starts to set, after a relaxing day at the sand bank that
some people describes as “the most beautiful place in the world” the
dhow returns back to Fumba.
Day 14
Departure from Zanzibar. Leaving hotel at 1230. Arrival at Kilimanjaro
International Airport around 1600. You will be taken to a lodge nearby
the airport where you can relax and have a meal before you start your
long journey home in the late evening.

Price shown is per person in double room, bed and breakfast.
The price includes 5 days safari (Lake Manyara, Serengeti and
Ngorongoro). Accommodation in tent at public camp. The camps have
toilets and showers.
Accommodation in Arusha is at Outpost Lodge. This is a small, nice
hotel with good standard. There is a restaurant inside and outside. Internet access. It is
situated in a quite area, 15 minutes walking from the town centre.
Accommodation at Zanzibar.
In Stone Town you sleep at Garden Lodge. This is a nice and small hotel
run by a local family. Breakfast is served at the terrace, and there is
a short walk to town.
Accommodation on the beach is on the east cost of Zanzibar at the hotel
Uroa White Villa. This hotel is placed in a quite area and has
beautiful white beaches.

Alternatives
The 5 days safari can be changed with one of our other safaris, or
climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro or Mt. Meru. It's also possible to extend your
holiday with 5 days as to experience safari, climbing and Zanzibar.

In Arusha
Impala Hotel.
This is one of the best hotels in town and it's very popular among
tourists. You find many restaurants there and also a small garden with a
swimming pool. The hotel has many facilities. It is a 15 minutes walk to
the town centre. (Addition of 17$ per night per person in double room)
Ngurdoto mountain Lodge.
This hotel is situated 27 km outside the town. It's a beautiful area
with a big coffee plantation and golf area. You can stay in small elegant bungalows
or in the main building closer to the swimmingpool. There are two
restaurants to choose between. (Addition of 40 $ per person per night
in the main building or 50 $ per person in bungalow)
At Zanzibar
Mnarani Beach cottage
This hotel is situated at a fantastic place north in Zanzibar at the
fishing village Nungwi. It's a short walk to the active Nungwi with many
hotels and restaurants. Its possible to stay in family bungalows that
are situated on a small cliff by a white beach. (Addition of 9$ per
person per night in double room, or 17$ per person per night in
family bungalow for 2 people)
