| Day 1 | Leave Arusha at 08:30 am for Marangu Gate where the climb starts. The walk passes through the lush vegetation of the mountain rain forest to Mandara hut (2700 m) and this 8 km takes 3-4 hours. | ||||||||||||||
| Day 2 |
Second day walk covers about 15 km (5-7 hours). After a short walk, emerge from the forest belt onto the grasslands to Horombo hut (3750 m). |

| Day 3 |
A hard day’s climb to Kibo hut (4700 m). Covering 13 km (over 6-7 hours) crossing terrain of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Here take a chance to relax on arrival as the next stage begins shortly after midnight (01:00 am). |

| Day 4 |
Early start around 01:00 with frequent stops to catch the breath in the thin starlit air. This is the steepest and most demanding section of the climb. It takes 5 hours to reach UHURU PEAK (5895 m) the summit of Africa. Descend down to Horombo hut. |

| Day 5 |
This is a much easier day as we have the luxury of walking downhill on the way to Marangu gate for transfer to Arusha. If you need 1 day for acclimatization you shall have an extra day at Horombo hut. It is also possible to climb another route (Machame). Ask for programs and prices. |
