Stone town
The heart of Stone Town is a maze of narrow alleys with beautiful high houses, some containing shops, bazaars and mosques. The streets are too narrow for cars so the town is quiet and walk-ing friendly, with bicycles and motorbikes. Stone Town is a city of prominent historical and ar-tistic importance in East Africa. There are unique mixtures of Arab, Persian, Indian and Euro-pean elements. For this reason the town was designated as an UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000. Besides having interesting architectural features in most of its houses, Stone Town is punctuated with major historical buildings, several of which are found in the seafront; these include former palaces of the sultans, fortifications, churches, mosques, and other institutional buildings. You can spend a whole day just walking around looking at beautiful buildings and important land marks. There are also activities to do around Stone Town and nearby islands:

This forest is one of the last remaining places in the world where you can find the Red Colubus Monkey. They were endangered species, but numbers have increased in recent years thanks to conservation work by the nature reserve working closely with the local people. The forest has excellent nature trails and a walk through its impressive flora and fauna is one of the highlights Zanzibar has to offer.Nungwi Cultural Village Tour
Nungwi lays on the northern part of Zanzibar Island. The tour starts in the morning as it is the best time to visit Nungwi Village. At that time the fish market is in full activity. You can also visit the natural aquarium; a home to endangered sea turtles and a variety of fish. The Nungwi Boat Yard is also a great experience where you’ll meet the ship yard owner and learn how dhows are built.© Copyright 2015 Wild Tracks - +255 784 420 342/+255 784 416 317 - Facebook
